This story takes place in the 1900s between Osman Konak, a restaurant owner, and Ahmet Efendi. One day, Ahmet Efendi was sick in his stomach, so Osman Konak boiled milk and rice, then sweetened it with sugar and made Ahmet Efendi drink it. While the aim was to make medicine, a dessert appeared. When a pinch of salt was added, saying “there is something missing”, Hamsikoy Sütlacı was born.

Sümela Monastery, which is located within the borders of Maçka, is 1 hour away from Hamsikoy. Sumela Monastery, a cave church, is thought to have been built between 365-395 AD.
